Jack Tamales

Microwave: Wrap frozen or thawed tamales in wet paper towel and microwave for 1-3 minutes.

Steam: Using steamer tray, pasta basket or bamboo steamer – boil water and place tamales in steamer basket for 15 minutes if thawed and 25 minutes if frozen.

Oven: Wrap tamales in foil and heat at 325 for 20-30 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 140F.

Pan Fry: Thaw tamales in refrigerator, remove corn husks and pan fry for about 3 minutes per side in hot oil. This will make the masa crispy!

Tamalchiladas: Thaw tamales, remove corn husks and place in casserole pan. Preheat oven to 375. Top tamales with enchilada or verde sauce, non-dairy cheese and other favorites, such as jalapeno peppers, green onions or cilantro. Bake for 20 minutes.

Kansas City Jack Bar-b-q

Kansas City Jack Bar-b-q can be thawed in the refrigerator and enjoyed cold in sandwiches within a week of thawing. It can also be heated up via a microwave (in a microwave safe container!) or on a skillet (from frozen or thawed, your choice!).

KC Jackwich – Place a leaf of lettuce on a slice of sour dough bread, add 1/3 of a container of Kansas City Jack Bar-b-q and top with sliced avocado and the other bread slice. If you’re avoiding grains or gluten, a collard leaf can be used as a healthy, green wrap.

Jack & Beans – Top a can of vegetarian baked beans with thawed Kansas City Jack Bar-b-q and heat according to can directions in oven.

BBQ Pizza – Using favorite pizza crust, top with thawed Kansas City Jack Bar-b-q and sliced pineapple. Add favorite cheese and bake according to crust directions.

Smoky, Herbed Chick-Un Smoky, Herbed Chick-Un can be thawed in the refrigerator and enjoyed cold in sandwiches within a week of thawing. It can also be heated up via a microwave (in a microwave safe container!) or on a skillet (from frozen or thawed, your choice!). Chick-Un Tacos – Heat up Chick-Un, adding a little cumin and chili powder if desired. Place in taco shell along with shredded lettuce, salsa and black olives or other favorite Mexican toppings. Chick-Un Wrap – Place thawed Chick-Un in a collard leaf and top with salsa. Quick, easy and vegan/paleo/gluten-free! Toona Salad – Combine thawed Chick-Un with 1/4 cup mayo, 2 T sweet pickle relish, 1 T Dijon mustard and 1/4 cup soaked, chopped wakame seaweed (freeze excess for later use!) in a bowl and mix by hand. Use as a sandwich filler or in a wrap!
